The name Vihangama, meaning “bird’s- eye view” in Kannada, beautifully captures the essence of our estate. Perched in the hills and surrounded by rolling clouds, the poetic charm of our landscape inspired this name.

In 2000, we welcomed the new millennium with the launch of Vihangama Eco-Tourism Holiday Retreat, a pioneering venture in the Malenadu and Sahyadri region. This unique homestay offered immersive cultural and culinary experiences, quickly becoming a favorite among writers, filmmakers, celebrities and nature lovers. Riding on this success, we expanded into a full-fledged luxury resort-now offering Premium Riverside Villas, Luxury Estate Suites, and Budget Estate Studios.

In 2019, we introduced the Vihangama Restaurant, a fine dining experience nestled in the lap of nature within Vihangama Holiday Retreat – Riverview Resort. Designed for our guests, travelers and foodies of Thirthahalli and Shimoga, the restaurant promises privacy, tranquility and a refined culinary experience. With elegant interiors, spotless washrooms, and a dedicated chef, our menu spans Malnad delicacies, Tandoori, South and North Indian cuisine, Continental fare, Multicuisine veg & non-veg, Coastal seafood, and fresh river catches. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner-making it the perfect venue for celebrations or relaxed dining. Nestled beneath the serene Plumeria tree, Vihangama adds a distinguished touch with its Celebrity Seat-a naturally sculpted stone perch with a gentle backrest, seamlessly blending into the landscape. This special spot is reserved for notable personalities, including writers, poets, public figures and celebrated actors visiting our resort. When such guests arrive, they are invited to sit and pose here, marking their presence among Vihangama’s honored visitors.
